Second komodo dragon dies in Surabaya Zoo in a month

A komodo dragon was found dead in its cage in Surabaya Zoo on Tuesday morning.
Surabaya Zoo spokesman Anthan Warsito said that the komodo had died after falling sick.
“The Komodo had seldom moved for a week,” Anthan said on Tuesday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
A veterinarian team at the zoo is currently conducting an autopsy to find out the cause of the komodo’s death. There are now 59 komodos at Surabaya Zoo.
Last month another komodo dragon was found dead in its cage.
Also in October, a hog deer, a python an estuarine crocodile and a mountain goat died.
Around 50 sick animals at the zoo have been quarantined. “Most of the animals are old so it is just natural that they suffer from various diseases,” Anthan said.
